The video performance project that will be carried out as part of Construction Site, is an artivist project which we see as a beginning that is open to change, and which will take as its basis the urban space of the cities in which it is to be held. The word Artivism, which derives from the words Art and Activism, should not scare anyone. Here the word activism stands for the performative and interactive nature of artwork. The response received from the audience as part of interactivity shall play a vital role in ensuring a strong performance finale. The workshop we propose is a project in which video and performance share equal grounds, with no hierarchical order whatsoever. As part of the "Honour Plays", the dates of which will also include November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, this workshop is not only about defending women, but criticises, from a feminist perspective, power, separatism, and violence (forced suicide, honour killings, harassment, torture, symolic violence, oppression, etc.) as they are played out in the sphere of sexuality, with the hope for one day achieving liberation. The performance will use as its main material "Beyoğlu", the ageless center of the city of Istanbul, home to the first leg of the project. Artist Nil Yalter, who has known no boundaries in her artistic career which has been ongoing since the 1960s, together with young performing artist Melis Tezkan, will hold the performance at garajistanbul, in the form of a work in progress, as a the fruit of a 10 day collaborative workshop.

Le projet de vidéo performance qui sera réalisé dans le cadre du Chantier est un projet artiviste que nous envisageons "ouvert à la mutation" et basé sur l'espace urbain de la ville où il aura lieu. Le néologisme Artivisme issu de la fusion des mots art et activisme ne doit faire peur à personne : l'activisme concerné ici représente le côté performatif et interactif de l'œuvre d'art. L'interactivité ne demeurera pas seulement comme une étape de l'œuvre : la sensibilité du public jouera un rôle concret pour que la performance puisse s'achever de manière "vraie". Le travail que nous proposons étant partagé sans hiérarchie par la vidéo et la performance, il existera (dans le cadre du festival "Pièces d'Honneur" incorporant la Journée Internationale pour l'élimination de la violence à l'égard des femmes) d'une façon féministe – non seulement dans le but de protéger la femme mais aussi dans l'intention d'indépendance critiquant le pouvoir, le séparatisme, la violence (suicide forcé, crime de mœurs, viol, torture, violence symbolique, pression, etc.) liés au sexe et au genre. Le projet, qui aura lieu initialement à Istanbul, utilisera comme matériel principal le centre de cette ville qui ne cesse d'être répandu : Beyoğlu. Il sera le fruit d'une collaboration de 10 jours (sous forme de work in progress) entre Nil Yalter, artiste sans limite qui produit des œuvres depuis les années 60, et la jeune artiste de performance Melis Tezkan.

Şantiye kapsamında gerçekleştirilecek video performans projesi, mutasyona açık bir başlangıç olarak gördüğümüz ve de yer alacağı şehirlerin kentsel mekanını temel olarak aldığımız artivist bir projedir. Sanat ve Eylem sözcüklerinin birleşimi olan Artivizm (Art- Activism) kelimesi kimseyi korkutmamalıdır; burada bahsi geçen eylem, sanat eserinin performatif ve etkileşime açık yönünü temsil eder. Etkileşim, işin sadece bir parçası olarak kalmayacak; seyircinin duyarlılığı, performansın esaslı bir şekilde sonlanmasında somut rol oynayacaktır. Önerdiğimiz çalışma, video ile performansın hiyerarşi gözetmeksizin aynı platformu paylaştığı bir proje olarak, 25 Kasım Kadına Yönelik Şiddetin Ortadan Kaldırılması için Uluslararası Mücadele Günü'nü içine alan "Namus Oyunları Festivali" kapsamında, feminist bir bakış açısıyla – sadece kadını korumak amacıyla değil, cinselliğe ilişkin iktidarı, ayrılıkçılığı ve şiddeti (zoraki intahar, töre cinayeti, taciz, işkence, sembolik şiddet, baskı vb.) eleştiren bağımsızlık temennisiyle, gerçekleştirilecektir. Projenin ilk ayağı olan İstanbul şehrinin yüzü eskimek bilmeyen merkezi "Beyoğlu"nu ana malzeme olarak kullanacak olan performans, 60'lı yıllardan bugüne üretiminde sınır tanımayan sanatçı Nil Yalter ile genç performans sanatçısı Melis Tezkan tarafından, 10 günlük ortak çalışmanın bir meyvesi olarak work in progress formunda garajistanbul'da gerçekleştirilecek.
